Abstract

In the rapidly evolving landscape of information and communication technology, the development of a robust ethical framework is vital to guide the use of digital technology. Religion and ethics play a crucial role in shaping human perspectives on technology, with Islam, as a major world religion, offering rich ethical teachings to provide valuable guidance in navigating the realm of digital technology. This article aims to explore the relationship between Islamic ethics and digital technology. Key inquiries include the application of Islamic ethical principles in the use of digital technology, Islam's stance on privacy, data security, and intellectual property rights within the digital context, and its teachings on social responsibility and ethics in digital communication. The article will conduct a literature review on Islamic ethical concepts relevant to digital technology and adopt a multidisciplinary approach to integrate Islamic ethical principles with the latest developments in digital technology. Practical examples will be examined to illustrate how Islamic ethics can be practically applied in daily digital technology usage. The expected outcome is an enhanced understanding of the association between Islam and digital technology, providing a valuable ethical compass for Muslims in their engagement with digital tools. Moreover, it serves as a source of inspiration for technology developers and policymakers to consider ethical dimensions in the sustainable and beneficial development of digital technology for the greater good of society.
