There are many lecturers who hold doctoral degree with various studies. Their presence is certainly very meaningful for the development of da'wa science indeed really needs rapid development. Therefore, there are a few notes to notice. First, most studies of da'wa are within the da'wa factor paradigm, so that other paradigms such as the system paradigm, developmentalism paradigm and interpretive paradigm have not yet obtained an adequate proportion of studies. Secondly, a consortium of experts in the field of da'wa is needed in collaboration with other sciences, to discuss and develop monodisciplinary, interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary and even multi-disciplinary studies. Thirdly, efforts are needed to write and develop studies in interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary studies and even multidisciplinary in the science of da’wa. It can be considered, that most studies of da'wa interdisciplinary, and cross disciplinary are also immature. If it already exists (da'wa psychology, da'wa sociology and da'wa management) it is still an introductory study and has not been developed yet in a deeper direction. Moreover, interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary studies (da'wa anthropology, da'wa political studies, da'wa law studies, etc.) have not yet been optimally developed.
2019-11-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication أسس بناء المجتمع المتحضر: بحث في أساليب الشيخ محمد هاشم أشعري اللغوية في دعوته الكتابية 2019-11-06T15:27:27+00:00 Moh. Yakub
This paper discusses about humanism civilization in the perspective of Islamic history. The approach taken in this journal is the historical narrative method by looking at universal values that favor human interests, expressed in a mindset, by not distinguishing on the basis of ethnicity, religion, skin color, and belief systems and religion. In addition, the author also explains that many aspects of humanity are recorded in Islamic history such as futuh mecca (conquerization of mecca). The author describes there are 4 leaders of Islamic leaders who describe humanitarian events contained in the history of Islam. This certainly awake and give direction to aspects relating to the general needs of humans including justice, equality (egalitarian) love and compassion, generosity, obedience to principles / law, environmental peace to the principles of chivalry and heroism. These universal principles are upheld and expressed by the Prophet Muhammad in his life and that is what he taught to his friends so that they will be passed on to the Muslims afterwards. The presence of this humanist civilization is like an oasis that gives thirst satisfaction to people who have the character of wisdom and have high ideals that all civilizations should elevate the degree of humanity. The impact of humanism civilization in the perspective of Islamic history is very useful because it refers to the principles of the Qur'an that give a universal message that can build humanism civilization that is embodied in the trajectory of Islamic history and continue the values of humanism's great and noble civilization.
2019-11-05T09:29:34+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Peace and Unity as a Main Purpose of Islamic Da’wa: Semantic Study of the Word Da’wa in the Qur’an 2019-11-06T12:52:32+00:00 Miftahus Surur Asmuki Asmuki
Da’wa is a holy duty of the apostles who revealed to them by God. Afterwards, it is bequeathed to Moslem scholars that have capability and integrity. In this era many Da’was just contain humiliation and hate speech that destroy the unity and peace among the people. It shows that Da’wa has strayed far from its real meaning and purpose. Basically Da’wa aims to unite mankind unto One God, one tenet and universal values according on surah Ali Imran verse 64. Based on this reality, the author – by researching the word Da’wa in the Qur’an on semantic perspective – aims to return Da’wa back to its real meaning and main purpose. Semantic is the linguistic and philosophical study of meaning in language. “Semantic of The Qur’an” should be understood only in the sense of the Qur’ans weltanschauung or world view. To understand the meaning of the word Da’wa, the author – firstly – found the basic meaning and relational meaning, then the synchronic and the diachronic. The result is that Da’wa Islam invites people unto the one tenet that held by all the prophets and the earlier people. It is no worship except One God that called tauhid or monotheism. It is the principal point to get Da’wa back to advance that the main purpose of Da’wa is peace and the unity under tauhid tenet and universal values based on surah Ali Imran verse 64.
2019-11-05T10:41:54+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Proceeding of International Conference on Da'wa and Communication The Role of Islamic Preachers in Developing Social Harmony and Civilization in South Sumatera in the 20th Century 2019-11-06T15:23:42+00:00 Nurseri Hasnah Nasution
In the XXth Century, the da’wa problems that emerged in South Sumatra were the spread of fundamentalism and the cult of persona, the diversity of religious articulations, the vulnerability in the internal environment of religious communities, the plurality of political, social, and religious atmosphere so that they became polemic among academicians, the clergy split into two groups, changes in religious traditions and religious life that are complex, the Muslims of South Sumatra are in position of weakness, poverty, and suffering, because of western imperialism, issues of justice, ideology, and power. Some preachers (Da,i)in South Sumatra appeared to respond and carry out the Da’wa bi al-lisanl, bi al-kitabah, and bi al-hal. Among the preachers (da’i) are K.H. Anwar Kumpul (1902-1959) represented an independent preacher (free), K.H. Zainal Abidin Fikry represents the government representative, K.H. M. Zen Syukri represents a representative of the NU organization. These three preachers (da’i) are actively building social harmony in different societies of educational and economic status, religious harmony, building an orderly, peaceful, and comfortable society, stopping the people of South Sumatra from making God and Islam as masks of the greed of power and material wealth, glue various differences in society and make it a means for mutual understanding, tolerance, and mutual love. In addition, they also play role in building theoretical and experimental civilizations which include ideas, norms, religious activities, establishing places of worship, educational institutions, libraries, roads, and producing books.
2019-11-05T09:29:20+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Refleksi Pemikiran Multikulturalisme bagi Dakwah 2019-11-06T15:21:14+00:00 Ellyda Retpitasari Luluk Fikri Zuhriyah
This paper aims to discuss multiculturalism thinking from Europe and Asia, such as Bikhu Parekh, Daniel Conjanu, and Charles Taylor. Multiculturalism thinking is explored for the sake of Da'wa, or it can be called as multiculturalism preaching. This study uses literature review, and analysis of multiculturalism phenomena in the city of Surabaya. These thinkers used a number of approaches in terms of recognition politics, new identity politics, political equality with dignity, politics of difference, accommodative multiculturalism, and pragmatism. In the analysis of the Da'wa approach is divided into two, namely the structural approach and cultural approach. The structural approach refers to politics that encompasses politics of recognition, politics of new identity, politics of equality with dignity, and politics of difference. As for the cultural approach, it encompasses accommodative multiculturalism and pragmatism. Through this multicultural preaching approach it becomes an offer in overcoming the problems of preaching in multicultural societies.
2019-11-05T09:29:08+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Dakwah Harmoni Komunitas: Studi Transformasi Identitas Kampung Muslim Dayak di Desa Semabi, Kecamatan Sekadau Hilir, Kabupaten Sekadau Kalimantan Barat 2019-11-06T15:18:51+00:00 Abdul Halim Baiti Rahmawati Roisul Umam
This study reviews the Dayak ethnicity as an exotic ethnicity with a unique interior image. They are accustomed to 'hunting human heads for marriage plots'. Traditions like this are considered as an obligation to avoid danger and disaster, and become a symbol of power and manliness. However, the practice of 'head hunting' only applies when Islam has not touched the theology of the Dayak community with ancestral religion in the past. This study focuses on the struggle of the Dayak Senganan and Malays in the villages of Semabi, Sekadau Hilir, Sekadau, West Kalimantan, which relates to the stigma that, by embracing Islam it means revoking the 'worthiness' identity. To illustrate the transformation of Dayak Wealth identity The methodology used in this study is the ethnographic method. The term 'Wealth' is derived from the word 'right' which means the transition from left to right, namely by embracing Islam. Findings from this study indicate that the key to inter-citizen harmony is supported by the strength of harmony between religious elites and also local cultural elites, and the role of shared awareness to coexist becomes a benchmark of harmonization. The power of harmony built by these two elite figures has produced transformative propaganda based on tradition.
2019-11-05T09:28:53+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Bahasa Dakwah Pemerintah Membangun Harmonisasi Kebangsaan 2019-11-06T15:17:43+00:00 Farhan Farhan
This paper examines the reality of Da'wa language in the interaction and communication to the head of state with the peoples. The diversity of tribes, religions, races, and groups within the archipelago needs to be handled wisely, so that the harmonization of citizens continues to be strengthened in all aspects of life. Uploading the message of the head of state on you tube social media can be the right media to parse central and regional policies. You tube social media is a trend of millennial society that is loved by all groups. Therefore, the head of state also needs to upload the existing social media. The message of the head of state needs to be known to all its people, both delivered during state speeches and in remarks on non-state activities. The President is the icon of a country, the national cultural identity of natural resources and human resources must be fully considered. It concerns state policies based on idealized ideals and constitutional grounds. All policies must be understood by the government apparatus from the central to the regions, officials to the people. However, the language of the head of state is not as easy as the educator explains it to students, the head of state needs high social sensitivity, so there is no obstacle means understanding all the messages he conveys. The head of state must provide an optimal and perfect example as a manifesto of the characteristics of Indonesian human resources as a whole. How are the messages of the head of state uploaded on social media ‘You Tube’?. The head of state must provide an optimal and perfect example as a manifesto of the characteristics of Indonesian human resources as a whole. This study is a descriptive qualitative methode, the material from the cyber media, and analysis of the speechs of Ir. Jokowidodo in YouTube media from January to December 2017. The research shows that the president's verbal and non-verbal messages reflected the balance of communication between leaders and the people interactively interactively; the meaning is humanist, religious, humorous, traditionalist, and nationalist. The analysis too shows that the head of the central government until the region must be a communicator, innovator and initiator wholeheartedly dealing with the interests of civil society in the millennial era, guarding the strengthening of national identity and religious ideology.
2019-11-05T09:28:42+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Challenging Traditional Islamic Authority: The Impact of Social Media in Indonesia 2019-11-06T15:16:47+00:00 Nadirsyah Hosen
Islamic teaching is, in fact, the product of a very slow and gradual process of interpretation of the Qur’an and the collection, verification and interpretation of the Hadith during the first three centuries of Islam (the seventh to the ninth centuries AD). This process took place amongst scholars and jurist who developed their own methodology for classification of sources, derivation of specific rules from general principles, and so forth. The traditionalist approach of learning Arabic, for instance, take years to complete and memorising the Arabic grammar takes a long time. Traditionalist Islamic institutions such as pesantren and madrasah produce Kiai, or Muslim clergy and scholars that inevitably create an elite group of scholars. They become the authority who determine the correct interpretation of the Holy books. However, in the era of the social media, such traditional authority has been challenged. Anyone could become a scholar of Islam and to criticise the Kiai harshly. My presentation will critically evaluate this new situation faced by the Indonesian Muslim scholars and to discuss the roots of the problems.
2019-11-05T09:28:08+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Da’wa, Social Media and Challenge the Mainstream of Islam among Millennial Generation 2019-11-06T15:14:07+00:00 Erwin Jusuf Thaib
This study aims to discuss the da’wa of Islam in relation to social media and how to challenge the mainstream of Islam among millennial generations in the community of Gorontalo City. The problem of this research is how the use of social media as a vehicle for da’wa for the millennial generation in Gorontalo City and what the challenges of da'wa for the millennial generation in Gorontalo City. This research uses qualitative methods, where data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The findings of this study that social media can be used as a medium of da'wa especially for millennial generations. His da'wa material is the same as da'wa material in general, but the packaging follows the tastes of the millennial generation. Da'wa material on social media can be in the form of short narratives, pictures, or videos. Da'wa messages are delivered casually without patronizing. Nevertheless there are challenges of da’wa on social media for the millennial generation in the form of the spread of hoaxes behind religious messages and the lack of adequate capacity of the millennial generation to filter religious messages so that they absorb whatever they find on social media. In conclusion, social media can be an alternative medium of da'wa in the delivery of da'wa for the millennial generation. However, there must be literacy efforts in accepting and understanding religious messages in social media so that they are not trapped in the massive hoax trap of today.
2019-11-05T09:27:44+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Digital Media Literacy for the Better Santri: Reconsidering the Power of Internet for the Students of Traditional Pesantren 2019-11-06T15:11:27+00:00 Fazlul Rahman
Santri in traditional Pesantren had always been blamed for their incapability to handle the negative impacts of the digital media (particularly the Internet). In consequence, there have been strict rule limited even strongly forbid the usage of Internet for the santri in that kind of Pesantren. This issue, from a larger perspective, is an issue of the incapability of the digital natives to effectively use digital technologies. At this point, Palfrey and Gasser reminded us that “there are two possible paths before us—one in which we destroy what is great about the Internet and about how young people use it, and one in which we make smart choices and head toward a bright future in a digital age.” Arguing for the potential power of the Internet for developing capacities of the santri (intellectually, religiously, and mentally), this paper is an effort to walk on the second path by proposing a formula of what I call “DMLfS” (Digital Media Literacy for Santri). A SWOT analysis of the formula leads this paper to conclude that the Internet is considerably important for developing santri’s capacities to face the unstoppable-fast changing media technology. The formula of “DMLfS”, this paper argues, is the one of the best answers to the question of how to create a digitally literate santri.
2019-11-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Peluang dan Tantangan Majelis Taklim pada Era Teknologi Informasi Ditinjau dari Perspektif Sosiologi Dakwah: Studi Kasus Majelis Taklim Jabal Al-Rahma di Perumahan Bukit Lawang Indah 2019-11-06T15:09:47+00:00 Kurniati Kurniati
The existence of majelis taklim still plays an important role in delivering and assisting people entering the era of advancement in information technology. The positive impact of advances in information technology opens opportunities for majors to develop better. The negative impact is a challenge for the Taklim Council in trying to overcome the existing problems. The reason for choosing the perspective of propaganda sociology is because in reality people's lives experience very rapid, progressive changes, and often appear to be symptoms of disintegratis, namely loosening of loyalty to common values. This study aims to analyze the problem of the lack of attendance at the activities of the Taklim Jabal al Rahma Assembly. The research method used is descriptive qualitative approach to the propaganda sociology. Data collection techniques with in-depth interviews as primary data and observation and literature literature as secondary data. This study uses Blumer's symbolic interactionism theory, in which Blumer has 3 main principles, namely meaning, language and thought. The results of the study found that there was a communication between the head of the taklim panel and members of the taklim board and the congregation taklim. The solution is to improve communication and optimize information technology to avoid disintegration which will endanger the continuity of Da'wa in the community itself.
2019-11-05T09:26:52+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication The Use of Social Media Digital Native and Digital Immigrant Muslim Generation in Surabaya 2019-11-06T15:01:58+00:00 Ali Nurdin
The profile of the Muslim generation can be seen through the map of the use of social media which is divided into two; that is, the native digital generation, the generation born above 1980 when internet technology has evolved and influenced its lifestyle, and digital immigrant; that is, generations born under 1980 who are now still able to use internet technology in their lifestyle. An epic Hikayat Prang Sabi – which is written in Acehnese Jawi – is evident to spur the Acehnese people to struggle against the Dutch invaders during the Aceh War. Numerous studies have been conducted on this hikayat to scrutinize the striking motivation it harbors. Noticeably, the hikayat is proof that Acehnese Jawi became an effective medium in successfully transmitting the da’wa to defend land and soul. However, the orthography, unlike Malay Jawi, now suffers from the lack of attention in terms of its writing system. Therefore, it is imperative to study how the orthography is employed so that it had such sheer readability in communicating the divine message. For this reason, this study attempts to unravel the Jawi writing system employed by the author in writing the hikayat. Content analysis is conducted on the script of the hikayat which is the subject of this study. It is found that the hikayat is written in various Acehnese dialects, which then affect the Jawi spelling. The Acehnese Jawi in the hikayat does share the same spelling in some words with Malay Jawi even though pronounced differently. A plethora of Arabic loanwords maintains their original spellings in Acehnese Jawi while some others are customized to suit the progressive change of local pronunciation and due to the attachment of prefixes and suffixes.
2019-11-05T09:25:06+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Destiny and Work Ethos as a Degree Strategy: Study in Vocational Community Katangka District Gowa 2019-11-06T14:00:58+00:00 Mahmuddin Mahmuddin
Destiny and work ethic as a Da'wa strategy for the community in the Katangka Village, Gowa Regency. Religious nationalism is a form of structural Da'wa strategy appropriate for plural societies such as the Indonesian people. It emerged from resistance to colonization. In Indonesia, religious nationalism played a role in the formation of a constitution that formulated "a Godhead" as the basis of the State. Multiculturalism began to be made an official policy in English-speaking countries (English-speaking countries), which began in Canada in 1971. Ali Aziz
Kiai is an agent of change for the Islamic community in the land of Java, Indonesia. The status of kiai is pinned as a form of respect for his charismatic leadership for his adherents. The relation between the kiai and his adherents in the context of contemporary Islamic preaching (da'wa) can be studied through social exchange theory. This theory is relevant to da'wa activities involving the relationship between preachers and da'wa partners. Preachers involve attributes and statuses that are well packaged, so that da'wa partners get satisfaction. da'wa partners sacrifice times, properties, and energies to participate in da'wa activities. When modernization breaks through da'wa activities, preachers need an intermediary called a commodification agent of religion. Finally, da'wa activity is determined by the commodification agent, not the kiai as a preacher. The exchange of kiai with adherents involves the commodification of religious agents in two ways; attribute and status. Status is in the form of the role of kiai, which includes knowledge, example, and dedication. All exchange materials are processed by the commodification agent through media means; institutions, teaching assemblies, and houses of worship. Commodification agents can take the forms of committees, management of institutions, media managers, event organizers, or kiai assistants. The exchange of kiai produced a message of preaching, whether in the form of sound, images, or both sound and images.
2019-11-05T09:21:16+00:00 Copyright (c) 2019 International Conference on Da'wa and Communication Reposisi Jamaah Tarekat dalam Dinamika Dakwah Kontemporer: Studi Kasus Tarekat Khalwatiyah Zamman di Kabupaten Wajo, Sulawesi Selatan 2019-11-06T13:51:22+00:00 Nurhikmah `` Nurhikmah Abd. Next what comes to mind is how to manage plurality and conflict can become social energy in realizing a harmonious and better national order. The answer is brief regarding the assessment of many factors. In considering plurality, agreeing that harmony is not enough if only carried out apathetically and passively. It is also expected that pluralist self-attitudes also measure pluralism. Respect and acknowledge the existence of others, place according to foster an attitude of empathy, honesty, and fairness. There needs to be an innovative and creative missionary revitalization effort carried out by a preacher as an implementer of Da'wa, including utilizing local wisdom products to support the success of Da'wa . Among the local wisdom products that can be adopted by a preacher is the behavior of penance which is usually done by the Javanese community. The practice of penance was initially carried out by asceticism, fasting at certain times was finally baptized with Islamic values to do certain activities such as fasting, reducing food to purify the form, reducing sleep to reduce feelings and feelings and preventing sahwat to purify power. penance in life is an effort to get closer to God, both in attitude, behavior, soul, and mind. Tirakat can be seen as a spiritual effort from an individual, in the form of body and soul concern in achieving something by drawing closer to God. One form of getting closer to God is by fasting. The preacher as the messenger must meet some minimum criteria as a preacher among the kretria of the preacher is noble.
